Named after Lydia.
Built for joy.
Lydia Bloom & Butter is named after my grandmother, Lydia Esperanza Lucci, who passed away in May 2026. She was the kind of person whose love language was creating with her hands — she started baking later in life, and this business is named after her.
I started baking at 40, with some helpful nudges from important people in my life, while on a mission to do something that was mine. Something with my hands. Something expressive, fun, and a way to share love without needing to be perfect. I am learning as I go — and documenting every step on the blog!
The first paid cake I ever made was a two-tier unicorn with butterflies and a gold horn for a wildly fun four-year-old's birthday. I grabbed a jar of glitter on my way out the door to add as a final touch — something to do together with the birthday girl. And what happened was this: she picked up the jar and dumped the whole thing on it. Every last bit. And it was perfect. That's what this is about.
Fun over fussy. Joy over perfect. But still delicious — and with time, technique that matches the vision. Very much personal.
