The U Visa (Form I-918) is a special visa for people who have been victims of serious crimes including domestic violence, assault, and sexual abuse. It was created to encourage victims to cooperate with law enforcement without fear of deportation. 2 La Visa U (Formulario I-918) es una visa especial para personas que han sido víctimas de crímenes graves, incluyendo violencia doméstica, agresión y abuso sexual. VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) allows victims of domestic violence to self-petition for immigration status using Form I-360 — WITHOUT the help or knowledge of the abusive spouse.
